SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING & MATHS

These four subjects are highly valued at The Ridgeway School and we have lots of exciting opportunities for students within these four areas.

We have been hugely successful in competitions such as the Go4Set Challenge and the Faraday event, with students progressing to the final rounds at Exeter university and Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, respectively.

There is a weekly STEM club open to all KS3 students, where students can extend their knowledge of all areas of STEM in exciting challenges and projects. We have made sweet dispensers, looked at the science reactions when cooking food, robotics, electronic textiles, maths challenges and lots more.

In addition to our popular STEM club, Year 12 students have taken part in a residential trip and an ongoing project working with aeronautical engineers to design and create a prototype project that the presented to a panel of judges.

Throughout the year we hold STEM events, including guest speakers – our latest speakers were the STEMettes who held an assembly to Year 9 girls about careers in STEM. We also hold challenge days for groups of students to work with STEM companies and take part in STEM challenges.

All students are welcome and encouraged to take part in the opportunities that STEM offers. We look forward to seeing you in some of our STEM events soon.
