The Ridgeway School Sixth Form is an academic and ambitious sixth form and the highest performing sixth form in the local area. Over a third of grades achieved by our students at R6 are A* or A. We have an average cohort size of 120 students per year group and take an individual approach that results in exceptional outcomes. Students at R6 are required to study 3 A levels or equivalent (including BTEC and Applied subjects), with some students deciding to study Core Maths or Further Maths as a 4th option. Through our enrichment programme students are given the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as EPQ and HSLA. On average 80% of each year group attends university with over 90% taking up places at their first-choice university.
We take a robust approach to assessment ensuring we accurately predict students for their applications. This takes into account in class assessments throughout the school year as well as well as summer term 'UCAS Prediction Exams' undertaken in exam conditions. We use the Department of Education 'Ready Reckoner' and 'Transition Matrices' to set achievable yet aspirational target grades based on GCSE performance.
Each subject leader provides a subject reference to ensure we provide accurate and relevant information for each student. This allows us to advise students on the most suitable courses and institution and provide Universities with personalised references representative of each individual student. We are very proud of out students at R6 and believe our individual approach results in exceptional outcomes.
