YEAR 9 GEOGRAPHY TRIP TO CARDIFF…
On Monday 8th of January, 92 students travelled to Cardiff to apply their theoretical knowledge to a practical scenario. The Year 13 tourism class spent months planning the trip as part of their diploma, which requires arranging and marketing a tourism event, as well as evaluating the success for the students.
The trip involved exploring Cardiff City Centre, including the castle, museum and principality stadium. Students also took part in a treasure trail within the city, finding clues and using these to solve a mystery. To enhance understanding of primary research and urban environments, students completed an environmental quality assessment and answered survey questions regarding the urban environment and the sense of place.
After completing the trail, they travelled to Cardiff Bay, they then carried out further primary research assessing the success of the regeneration in the area. The overall highlight for the students was the boat trip; a 45-minute tour of the regenerated Bay area, including Senedd yacht clubs, Cardiff Barrage and many more famous sights. The students enhanced their geographical skills, were a credit to the school and had a fantastic day. Thank you to all staff involved.
