Year 7 and 8 Trip to the Rhineland in Germany…
A group of 42 students from years 7 and 8 travelled to the Rhineland in Germany to learn more about the language, history and geography of one of the largest countries in Europe.
During their 4 day visit, students braved all kinds of weather conditions including rain, sleet, snow, sunshine and gusty winds. They also visited the Haus der Geschichte museum in Bonn, Cologne cathedral, the Deutsches Eck at Koblenz, cruised down the Rhine on a big ship and did a scavenger hunt in the medieval town of Rüdesheim.
Lots of typical German food was eaten such as Bratwurst, Frikadellen and Spätzle. The students also had to work together to make their beds, lay tables and clear up in the hostel each day. It really taught them a lot of independence too.
There were lots of chances to learn more German and to learn about how life in Germany has changed through the ages. Students had a great time and big thanks to Mr Walke, Mrs Hill, Miss Bidder and Miss Mesa-Muniz for giving up their own time to take them on this trip, which the students will always remember.
