A Level Geography Trip to Sussex
On Monday 3rd March, our intrepid Year 12 geographers made their way to the south coast for their 3-day field trip to collect data for their coursework. First stop was West Wittering beach where students delighted in collecting data on coastal processes and sand dune succession in the sunshine. We then made our way to the South Downs YHA to write up our findings and recharge ready for a day in Brighton. Tuesday again brought lovely weather, students spent time investigating differences between different residential areas in Brighton, as well as comparing the sense of place and impacts of globalisation in Churchill Square, The Lanes and the cultural quarter. We also spent time in the marina looking at the impacts of regeneration. Students were absolutely brilliant and engaged fully in the fieldwork and gained many geographical skills. Thank you to Mr Halsall for accompanying us on the trip and the Year 12 geographers for making it such a success.

Silver Duke of Edinburgh
Last weekend 32 Year 10s took part in their practice expedition for the Silver DofE. We went to the New Forest where we had fantastic sunny days but bitterly cold nights! The walking went very well, despite a couple of miss turns, everyone managed to find their ways to the check points. Once in camp everyone had a big meal, enjoyed the end of the sun and then got into bed. On the first night we learnt our lesson to wrap up warm as a few woke up cold and Mr Adair even had ice on his sleeping bag! The second night was far more comfortable as we all wrapped up as much as possible to stay warm, which was a great success.
We are very excited for our assessed expedition at the end of April on Exmoor, and pray for good weather!
